 Ambassador Mahamat Nasser HASSANE was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Chad to the United States in December 30th, 2013 following a distinguished career in public service. Prior to this appointment, He was Governor of the Bahar El Gazel region in central Chad from 2010 to 2011. He served as Minister of Oil and Energy of the Republic of Chad from 2008 to 2010 and from 2005 to 2006.

From 1999 to 2003, he was also Director of Petroleum and Chief of capacity building projects financed by the World Bank. From 2003-2005 he was Minister of Energy and Mining. From 2006-2007 he worked as private sector consultant and from 2007-2008 he served as Senior Adviser to the President of Chad for oil mining and energy.

Born in 1964 in Ndjamena, Ambassador HASSANE is a Doctoral candidate at the University of Nantes in France, focusing his research on Public Law and Oil Law in Central Africa. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the United Arab Emirates and a Master in exploration an production of Hydrocarbon from the Institute Francais de Petrole (IFP) in France. Ambassador Hassane is married  and has 13 children.
