A Guide to the 2026 FIFA World Cup
Brought to you by the Washington Diplomat staff

Soccer’s biggest event is back in North America, and what better place to watch it than the city that serves as one of the most important diplomatic hubs of the world.
From June 11, 48-teams will play across Mexico, Canada and the USA for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, leading up to the final at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on July 19.
And while DC isn’t one of the 16 host cities, it won’t be without the spirit. Massive screenings at the National Mall and The Wharf, watch parties at neighborhood bars and embassy-hosted gatherings will bring the city to life.
So, soccer fans, DMV locals and expats, this is your guide to watching the global celebration of the sport.
This page will be updated regularly as World Cup-related events are added. Keep an eye on our social media and our events page for the most recent updates.
