Don Pramudwinai became ambassador of Thailand to the United States on July 17, 2009.
Ambassador Don comes to the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington after serving as Thailand’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York since 2007. In addition, he has served as ambassador to Belgium Luxembourg and the European Union (2004-07) as well as ambassador to China (2000-04) and to Switzerland (1994-99). At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Bangkok, he held the posts of first-ever director-general for East Asian affairs (1992-94), and director-general for information and ministry spokesman (1999-2000), director of the Southeast Asia Division in the Department of Political Affairs (1985-88), among other postings. He has also served as a minister at the Royal Thai Embassy in London and counselor and first secretary at the Thai Embassy in Bonn, Germany.
Ambassador Don received a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s in international relations from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He also earned a master’s degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
He is married to Narirat Pramudwinai.
