Fernand Pouckre’-Kono was appointed Ambassador of Central African Republic to the United Nations on January 15, 2003.
Prior to his current appointment, he was Charge d’Affaires at the Permanent Mission of the Central African Republic to the United Nations in New York, where he had also served as First Counsellor from October 2001 to January 2002. Before that, he had served there as Legal Advisor from September 1991 to October 2001.
He has also held a number of positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangui, including Director for International Organizations from 1990 to 1991 and Chief of the United Nations Section from 1987 to 1990.
Pouckre’-Kono has an advanced degree in International Relations from the State University of Kiev.
He was born in Fort-Lamy, Chad in 1955 and is married with two children.
