Kenichiro Sasae became Ambassador of Japan to the United States on September 2012.
Ambassador Sasae previously served as Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs (2012), Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs (2008), and Deputy Director-General of Asian and Oceania Affairs (2005).
He also served as a representative of Japan during the six-party talks to find a peaceful resolution to the security concerns as a result of the North Korean nuclear weapons program from 2005 to 2007.
He is married to Nobuko Sasae.
