His Excellency Slobodan Tasovski

Slobodan Tasovski was appointed Ambassador to the United Nations on March 7, 2008.

Prior to his new appointment, Tasovski served in 2007 as Charge d’Affaires/Minister Counsellor in the Netherlands. From 2005 to 2007 he was Head of the United States Section in the Department for Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Skopje, his country’s capital.

Between 2003 and 2005, he served as Deputy Head of Mission in Washington, D.C., prior to which he was a Counsellor in the same Embassy. In 1998 to 2001, he was Head of the NGO Section in the Foreign Ministry’s Department for Multilateral Affairs. From 1994 to 1998, he was Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

Beginning his diplomatic career in 1978 as a Desk Officer in the Directorate for the United States and Canada at the Federal Secretariat for Foreign Affairs in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Tasovski eventually rose to head the Foreign Ministry’s Department for Multilateral Affairs in 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Belgrade.

He was born on July 9,1954.
