Eileen Malloy is the United States Chargé d’Affaires to Turkmenistan.
Prior to this she was a Team Leader in the Office of Inspector General (2004-2010). Her overseas Foreign Service experience includes Consul General in Sydney (2001-2004), Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic (1994-1997), Chief of the Arms Control Implementation Unit in Moscow (1988-1990), Chief of the Consular Section in Dublin (1987-1988), Head of Consular Operations and Acting Consul General (for one year) in Calgary (1982-1985), Science Officer in Moscow (1981-1982), Head of Refugee/Immigrant Visa Processing in Moscow (1980-1981), and as a Junior Officer in the Consular Section and Staff Assistant to Ambassador Kingman Brewster in London (1978-1979).
Malloy’s Washington assignments include Special Project Advisor to Director General Marc Grossman (2001), Senior Advisor to Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson (1999-2001), Deputy Assistant Secretary for East and Central Europe (1997-1999), Director of the Secretariat Staff (1993-1994), Assistant to the Under Secretary for Political Affairs (1992-1993), Senior Desk Officer of the United Kingdom (1990-1992), and Analyst for the Bureau of Consular Affairs Executive Office (1985-1987).
Malloy currently also serves as a member on the Board of Directors for the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training. She is a member of Women in International Security, the Washington Institute of Foreign Affairs and the American Foreign Service Association.
Prior to the Foreign Service she was employed in New York as a Divisional Manager at Dun & Bradstreet, Inc.
Malloy is married to Jim McLachlan. They have two daughters and four grandchildren.
