The new Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations, Mohammad Hussein Ali Bahr Aluloom, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
Before his latest appointment, Mr. Bahr Aluloom headed the Department of the Americas in Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2016. He was Ambassador to Kuwait from 2010 to 2016.
After joining the Ministry with the rank of Ambassador in 2009, he was appointed to head several departments and was a key participant in reviewing and restructuring the Ministry’s policies. Mr. Bahr Aluloom also served as an adviser to the Iraqi Transitional Council in 2004 and the Iraqi Governing Council in 2003.
With 35 years of experience in engineering, telecommunications and media, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics from the University of Technology in Baghdad and a Master of Science degree in Digital Systems from Brunel University in London.
Born on 20 April 1958, Mr. Bahr Aluloom is married and has four children.
