Pablo Antonio Thalassinós was appointed Ambassador of Panama to the United Nations on July 17, 2009.
From 2004 until his appointment, Thalassinós was an adviser to the President of the University of Panama. He served as Minister for Education from September 1994 to August 1999. From 1986 to 1988, he was General Manager of the Colon Free Zone, and has been Honorary Vice Consul of Cyprus in Panama since 1977.
After founding the Clinica Psicologica Thalassinós in 1968, he received his board certification as a psychologist in 1976. While continuing in private practice, he held a number of positions in higher education, including Dean and Vice-Dean of the College of Humanities Universidad de Panama (1982 to 1985), and Chairman of the Department of Psychology at the same institution. (1980 to 1982).
Thalassinós earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Central State University in Oklahoma (US), and a Master of Education in counselling psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma.
He was born in Panama City in 1945, is married and has two daughters and five grandchildren.
