Petr Gandalovic assumed his responsibilities as ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States on May 20.
Ambassador Gandalovic previously served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies in the Czech Parliament (2006-11), during which time he was a member of the Foreign Committee (2010-11) and a member of the Agriculture Committee (2009-10). He was also the mayor of the city of Ústí nad Labem (2002-06), the Czech minister of agriculture (2007-09) and minister of regional development (2006), as well as consul general of the Czech Republic in New York (1997-2002). In addition, Ambassador Gandalovic served as minister advisor (1994-95) and director of the Economic and Information Section (1995-97) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and deputy minister at the Ministry of Environment (1992-94).
Ambassador Gandalovic graduated from the faculty of mathematics and physics at Charles University Prague and he is married.d
