Previous to this position, Lourdes O. Yparraguirre was Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to Austria with concurrent jurisdiction over Croatia, Slovenia and Slovak Republic.

In addition, she was the Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), The Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) and International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA). And also, Yparraquirre was Resident Representative of the Philippines to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The ambassador holds a diploma in International Economics and Development (With Distinction), from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, in Netherlands.
