Jean-Louis Wolzfeld became ambassador of Luxembourg to the United States in November 2012. Ambassador Wolzfeld previously served as director of political affairs in Luxembourg and as ambassador to the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Malta and the Republic of San Marino, the last two postings with residence in Rome. He started his career in 1977 as attaché and then secretary of legation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg.
In addition, he participated in the 34th General Assembly at the United Nations, where he later returned as Luxembourg’s permanent representative to the U.N. He also served as permanent representative to the international organizations in Geneva for six years. Ambassador Wolzfeld holds a graduate degree from the University of Paris in international and European law.
He speaks French, English, German, Italian and Luxembourgish. Among his hobbies are: reading, painting and traveling.
