Charge d’ Affaires Alison Shorter-Lawrence

Alison Shorter-Lawrence assumed duty as the Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. on February 26, 2015. She arrived in Luxembourg on July 30, 2014 to begin her assignment as Deputy Chief of Mission.

Prior to her arrival in Luxembourg, Alison served as the HR Division Chief in the Executive Director Office for the Bureaus of European and Eurasian Affairs and International Organizations in Washington, D.C. She has also served as an Assignments Officer in the Bureau of Human Resources’ Office of Career Development and was the Chief of Staff to the Director, Office of U.S. Foreign Assistance. Other Washington-based positions that she has held include the Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Management and Post Management Officer in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, and Special Assistant to the Spokesman in the Bureau of Public Affairs.

Alison’s overseas assignments include Bridgetown, Paris, Tunis, and Belgrade.

Alison earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Washington College in 1987. She is married to Richard Lawrence, and they have two children.
