Ambassador Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak assumed his duties as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to the United States in August 2015.
Formerly, Ambassador Mubarak was the Director of the Presidential Office and Chief of Staff. Prior to taking up his appointment as the Director of the President’s office, Dr. Bin Mubarak was appointed on January 2013 Secretary General of Yemen’s National Dialogue Conference (NDC), leading a team of over 120 staff facilitating the mediation process among the participating 565 delegates, and providing technical assistance to NDC working groups. Additionally, during his tenure as the NDC Secretary General, Dr. Mubrak co-chaired the steering committee of the Multi-Partner Peace Building Trust Fund. Following the successful conclusion of the National Dialogue Conference, Dr. Bin Mubarak was appointed on January 25, 2014, member and rapporteur of the Regions Committee.
Ambassador Mubarak holds a PhD in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Baghdad. Upon completing his doctoral degree, he undertook a number of academic teaching positions at Sana’a University. Dr. Mubarak established the Outreach Maastricht School of Management Program at Sana’a University , becoming in 2007 the of Director of the Center Business Administration for postgraduate studies in Sana’a University that offers the first and only internationally accredited MBA program in Yemen.
Dr. Mubarak authored a number of academic papers in the fields of sustainable development, political transitions and other papers on Yemen’s experience in the National Dialogue Conference. Ambassador Mubarak is the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Youth Leadership Development Foundation (YLDF).
