His Excellency Kaha Imnadze

The new Permanent Representative of Georgia to the United Nations, Kaha Imnadze, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 23 July, 2013.

Until his appointment, Mr. Imnadze was a Board Member of the Georgian Political Science Association from 2012, and Programme Director of the Georgian Institute for Russian Studies since 2009.  Between 2005 and 2007, he was a Research Associate with the Conflict Studies Research Centre at Camberley, in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Imnadze worked as an Assistant, as well as Spokesman/Press Secretary, to the President of Georgia between 2000 and 2003, before which he served as Deputy Secretary of the National Security Council between 1998 and 2000.  Between 1994 and 1998, he was Deputy Chief of Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Brussels, from where he was accredited simultaneously to Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

From 1993 to 1994, Mr. Imnadze headed the Western Europe Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was Deputy Head of the South-East Asia Department between 1992 and 1993, having started his foreign service career as an intern in 1989.

Mr. Imnadze holds a master’s degree in English language and literature from Tbilisi State University. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 4 February 1969, he is married and has a daughter.
